Checking of children's playground equipment
Why is it necessary to check the children's playground equipment?
On 1 February, 2004 Minister of Economy and Transport issued the decree 78/2003.
(XI. 27.) GKM on the safety of children's playground equipment that specifies
comprehensive examination of children's playground equipment on public area,
at kindergartens, schools on national level. The institutions that upkeep
the children's playground equipment are bound to get the condition, safety
of the equipment checked by a designated body up to the date defined in the
decree that is 30 June, 2005.
The conformity of the children's playground equipment to the laws, standard
shall be assessed by organisations designated by the Minister of Economy and
Transport.
The Hungarian Standards Institutions (MSZT) as a non-profit public body, independent
from manufacturers that wants to take an active part in the safety of children's
playground equipment and by this in the safety of children's playground, asked
its designation from the competent minister.
The Minister of Economy and Transport qualified MSZT as competent and designated
it for checking of the children's playground equipment under the registration
number 074/2004.
How does the system work?
The checking system meets the requirements of implemented European standard
MSZ EN 45004:1995 "General criteria for the operation of various types of
bodies performing inspection".
MSZT checks the conformity of children's playground equipment based on the
decree 78/2003. (XI. 27.) GKM on safety of children's playground equipment
and the MSZ EN 1176 series of standard and MSZ EN 1177 standard related to
the decree.
